I laugh in the face of cooking

. Tuesday, July 6, 2010 .

Today's assignment in the month o' journal posts is a favorite recipe.  Umkay.  I tell ya what peeps, I am not much of a cook.  Luckily, the hubs and the offspring don't know enough about all of you out there with your schmancy food creating abilities.
I like to bake, but cookies are easy and I'm a cake-in-a-box kinda girl.  My friend Vanessa (also doing this month o' posts) is taking a cake decorating class which I think is way coolio.  Let's all ooh and ahhh at Nessa's soon to be awesome skills. :)  She'll probably come up with something groovy for this post.  I digress.

Here is an easy peasy dessert that is popular with your favorite sandwich family:

Oreos And...
1 package of Oreos
1 tub of Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream (get the green, it tastes better, I promise)
1 tub of Cool Whip
Hershey's Syrup

Set Ice cream on the counter (seriously, this is a step!)
Count out 30-35 cookies (Not more than 35, or else you won't have any extra to eat while it's setting--hello, priorities!)
Crush the counted cookies--in a bag with a rolling pin (my fav aggression releaser) or in the blender if you want them finely crushed
Cover the bottom of a 9x13 dish with Oreo mixture
Spoon Ice Cream onto Oreo Crust (it is so much easier now that it's soft, right?!)
Smooth out the ice cream
Spoon Cool Whip onto ice cream
Drizzle, Draw or Diagram something with the Hershey's Syrup on top of the Cool Whip
Stick that Baby in the fridge for a few hours, or 30 minutes if you're impatient like me :)
Enjoy!
I should have made one and taken pictures! Blurg.  Here is a pic of our wedding cake for no reason at all, besides the fact that it is supah-kewl!

(Nessa--learn how to make that, k?!)
To read the other, and probably real, recipes go check out Prenda Le Stelle
Happy Day!

I agree -- that cake IS amazing, but I have to say the Oreo one sounds delightful too. Just started a diet today -- I'm just saying.

Just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your comment on my blog today about our "art gallery." I appreciate your kind words so much!
