Thoughts!

So again with the missed posting! Sheesh, like sand through the hour glass...and I have zero pics to share...methinks I should start posting random shots, cuz everyone loves pics right?

Anywhooo, it's a good thing I waited, because I have exciting news!

So last week, I auditioned for two movies!  The Hangover 3 and an indy pic called "Blood n' Whiskey" and they were totally different!  We had rushed up for the second and it was an improv audition.  Which is good and bad right?  I didn't have to learn a specific story but I had to be ready to do whatever comes up...yikes right!?

Well, I got the part!  In "Blood n' Whiskey!"  I am over the moon with excitement! Are you so excited tooooooo?!  It shoots at the end of next month. Yeehaw!

Last week, I auditioned for another movie, one I really liked the part, although I haven't heard anything yet...

Now onto this week, I have two auditions! Two! One for a commercial and one for an event type gig.  Both very different, but I'm excited for the opportunities both present!  Will keep you posted for cereal! What did ye think of the random pics?

Thoughtful Thursday

 I'm a day late on Thoughtful Thursday, ah well, the last two days were so busy!  I has one audition and an actual itty bitty shoot yesterday.  Then today I had two more auditions! Yowza peeps!  One was down in Tucson and of course the other was up in Phoenix, so we were driving fools to try and get everything done.

Why you wonder, I mean there are still 12 hours of daylight?  Well...because we waited for capital F-our hours in line!  Mooooooooo, cattle call all around!

It was for being a lil ol extra in a big ol movie! They need 300 people! So tootsies crossed to be one of many.  I was actually number 493 in line...I'm pretty sure they ended up over 1000...

Then we raced back up to the valley for an improv audition where I had a groovtastic time!  Hoping for a callback!

As for yesterdays stuff...

the audition was a little contrived...I heard them tell the woman that went two before me that she had the part...

what's a girl to do??? Well go for it anyway of course? And take solace in the fact that the already cast kid has dark hair and olive skin--as does the one they cast (as the hippie Aunt) and well, if you've seen me...I don't have dark hair or even close to olive skin!

I have at least one audition on the books for next week and a networking event...here we go!

Thoughtful Thursday

I am thinking of doing this every Thursday.  Just writing out my thoughts.

 Think how awesomesauce an idea it is?! A) I'll be sure to blog once a week-phew and B) I can emote about my attempt to start a new career.

I've been trying to dip my toe in a new career all year.  I don't think I've really taken it seriously until now.  I have really wanted a new career and I have talked about it, but until this week I haven't sat down and strategized and given myself a serious talking to about what it takes to actually have a new career!  

I want to be an actor.

Well it's not quite like going back to school to get my masters.  Just like if I wanted to become a doctor, lawyer (indian chief) or...I'd have to buckle down and train and study and really learn the chosen craft. 

So, that is what I have to do.  I've gone on some auditions this year, I've got some nice headshots. I've even landed some roles, but I have a long long way to go.  Lots to learn and lots of risks to take.  So here I go--even if I never attain the goal of working actor--it seems like a worthwhile thing to fail at. Wish me broken legs would ya?!

First day!

Ahhhh, yes! The first day of school arrived yesterday.

   Em is officially a kindergartner and LB started her second year of preschool!

I started taking pics with this chalkboard when Gary was starting school. Lurve them!

  I have a lot on my plate this week, so I wasn't as emotional as I've been in the past (ie, I was glad to send them off on this year's adventure at Montessori school!)

  Emmy is one of 6 kindergartners, which is rawckin'-- dontcha think?! For the first day LB made a lovely necklace and Em had this to say when asked if her day was a good day? "Yes, except I didn't get to do exactly what I wanted...ALL DAY! Hilarious! She's certain that she will get to make a necklace tomorrow instead of working on 'packets'...well we shall see about that!

A resurgence!

Ya. That's 3 syllables for me bebe.  I've been away.  I tried to blog somewhere else. not exactly what we call a success.

Anywho, a lot has changed in the last two years. 'nuff said about that...

A lot has not changed--got them 3 yungins still, tho the teenager is like 6'3" and eating me into poverty

 

I read this blog post, written by one of those peeps that's really disciplined (lacking that one here) and someone commented how her kids were going to appreciate all those memories someday.  Sheesh!

 What am I giving those kids??? besides food, shelter, and clothing? puhleeze, I'm just trying to keep them on the therapy couch in moderation only and OFF the casting couch.

A challenge: 30 day Journal.

My pal Jilllian has had a lot of success with her blog and now she is hosting a little journal challenge for the next 30 days.  Oof, that's a lot of posts, but if some friends can do it, I might as well give it the old college try...

Day 1 is an intro post, so here is a bit about me-

Deets:

I'm hitched. I'm a parent. I like to go to the sound of my own drum :)

Is that enough?  hmmmm...

I like opposites:
I am reallleeeeee friendly--I talk peeps up in the line at Target, but I think of myself as only having a very few close friends.
I started out as a young mom and now I consider myself a young-at-heart-mom.
I have a much older (way cool) brother but we both think of ourselves as practically only children.
I have a very colorful personality but I wear a lot of black.
I love Jesus, but am not what many would consider a 'traditional' Christian.


Something cool about me:
I work in a wild gypsy industry full of personality called film production.  I started out acting and moved to the other side of the camera.  I wonder about that choice sometimes.

Something boring about me:
because of said industry I have a tendency to analyze television and movies in terms of production value--lighting, shooting style, editing etc.  Some peeps have been known to refuse to watch movies with me, but I try to reign it in :)

Something new:
I have a new house!  Yowza, lotsa posts 'round these parts to be found about that!  Making this house into home is exciting and challenging at the same time, mostly fun though! Painting and decorating is something I could blog about all.day.long--hope you don't mind :P

Something old:
I've lived in AZ for almost 30 years and while it is still practically 100 outside, I'm wearing holey pants with a cracker jacks pattern on them because I'm cold and kewl :)

Blog Buddies

Today I just feel like throwin' some stuff out there...

Isn't it funny how when you get to know peeps online--either through a message board or by reading their blog, you feel like you totally know them?  Even if they live half the country away?!  I love the glimpse you get into their lives, I'd like to be able have a cup of coffee and laugh until I cry with some of the women whose blogs I read.  Of course, they haven't got even an eensy teensy clue who I am but hey, don't they know I like a hot latte and a honey bran muffin early in the morning!?  A few of my closer to home friends are doing these get to know you posts, I have really enjoyed reading them.  Here are some random factoids about me

• I wanted to be a ventriloquist when I was a kid--funny because I currently direct a puppet ministry!  I love puppeteering, it's amazing the personality people have within, that comes out when they are hidden behind a curtain.
• I don't eat butter (as a spread)--I got sick on it as a kid, after eating loads of bread and butter.
• I love to paint.  Walls, pictures, myself :)--it really doesn't matter the color.  I don't like white walls, you might think my house has toooo much color, but I think it reflects the varied and colorful nature of the desert where I live.  You don't think the desert is colorful, come for a visit and I'll show ya!
• I can't cook, but I love to eat--wow there's news all around :)
• my 3 year old takes really good pictures, I might devote a few posts to her shots--

I realize that I'm at a crossroads of sorts in my life right now.  Choices challenge me as a look around my pretty new house.  Projects?  Purging? (un)Packing? Praying?  A good friend recently told me I need to ListeN more and TalK less (I think she meant whine less, but who's counting).  Kind of on that same grateful track we talked about the other day.  I think a good P for me would be purposeful.  What is your letter of the day?  (Yes I watch a lot of Sesame Street!)

On my mind right now

We are watching the Dark Knight.  The boy blts have seen it several times.  Me?  I'm not big on scary or intense movies.  I can hardly watch.  Movies with endings you can't predict or where peeps get hurt, they make my heart hurt.  I'm a little wonky that way.
I dont think they like it when I surf for a few minutes...then ask them what just happened? It makes it bearable to me.  I don;t think I like this movie.  Don't shake your bloggy heads at me, I know Heath Ledger was a great actor.  It's just how I'm made.  Yea God for oddballs :)

Anywho, my folks have gone off to China on vacation.  I miss them.  Hmmm. Makes me feel like a kid again.  They left me this.

Doesn't that look yummy.  I didn't want to share it with the boys, I know it was their turn to pick the movie, it's just so hard to watch.

My girls are in bed and the boys are involved in the tube.  I start to reflect on everything going on around me...
It's been quite a year here at the blt house.  I think I need to work on being more grateful.  I've been a little bit ungrateful lately I think.  cranky-crankmeister.  and not sleeping--too much worry.  do you ever feel so overwhelmed about your decisions?  I worry about my kiddos.  giving the right opportunities while encouraging them to be independent.  You pray, you analyze, you discuss (repeatedly).  eat sleep repeat.
